Lavazza long black coffee from Aquila — very good coffee!

I have always been sceptical whether Brisbane-ites know what a good coffee is. Too often people have raved about a coffee shop to me, but then I have been disappointed by bitter coffee with a foul after taste. I started to wonder if it was me who did not know good coffee.

I had seen people queueing for coffee from Aquila in the mornings and wondered whether these people actually knew a good coffee when they tasted it. So I purchased a coffee to find out …

I started drinking this coffee and thought it was pretty good — I then realised I had not put my normal one sugar in it. Now that is a true sign of good coffee!

Sorry Merlo, I did not like your coffee

My wife recently brought home some Merlo coffee beans. We ground them and made some fantastic cups of coffee. I therefore had high expectations purchasing a long black coffee from BarMerlo in Queen Street in the Brisbane CBD. Unfortunately, I was disappointed , receiving a bitter coffee with an unpleasant after taste.
