Cranes on the Brisbane CBD skyline — where are they?

Former Premier of Queensland, the late Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen was reported to measure the state’s prosperity by looking out his window in the Parliamentary Annex and counting the cranes on the Brisbane CBD skyline.

I have been working from a client’s office in the Brisbane CBD recently and it dawned on me — there is only one crane on the CBD’s skyline. What does that say about the current state of Queensland’s economy?

The Guardian — public art dog/man in Brisbane CBD

Public art usually does not appeal to me. It is usually gaudy and abstract. The Guardian, though, caught my attention.

I was waiting to walk across the traffic lights on the corner of Ann and Wharf Streets in the Brisbane CBD. A towering, silver, dog-faced figure was waiting next to the crossing. It turns out the dog/man was commissioned by Lexicon.
